HSE apprentices and dual students go through various departments and get to know many employees and job profiles. HSE is diverse – just like the people that work here. In our blog, our apprentices regularly talk about the jobs and departments at HSE.
Today: The Merchandise & Sales Planning department – Viktoria Spindler talks about what she learned at this department as a dual student for Business Administration Trade Management and E-Commerce.
The MSP department (Merchandise and Sales Planning) is responsible for planning and equipping the live hours with products from the large HSE assortment. It is important to create a uniform image for the customer, both in terms of pricing and the supporting channels, e.g., e-commerce. As an omnichannel Retailer, HSE sells its products not only on TV, but also in the online shop and via the mobile shopping app. Good planning gives customers a comprehensive and uniform shopping experience across all channels. MSP staffers must always have a good overview of their formats. HSE has over 150 brands in fashion, beauty, wellness & sport, household, and home & living. While this offers a lot of variety, it is also an everyday challenge for the employees. They need to be able to act at a moment's notice while also keeping an eye on the long-term development. MSP has interfaces throughout the company, e.g., the staffers closely interact with Purchasing about which products and formats went well.
I was able to learn from experienced MSP staffers and accompany them to meetings, through which I quickly met a lot of people at the company. I was also responsible for editing various show hours and committees for the approval of items. The work in the MSP department is certainly varied and demands a lot of organizational talent and flexibility from the employees.
