III. About the processing of personal data by HSE
Below is an overview of how we ensure the protection of your personal data when you access our website and which types of personal data we process for which purposes and to what extent.
1. Processing of personal data related to our applicant portal
We offer an online job application portal.
Information on data protection in the context of your application can be found under this link: https://jobs.hse.com/privacy
Please note that applications sent by e-mail are transmitted unencrypted. We thus recommend using the online application portal.
2. Processing of data when accessing our website – log files
When accessing our website, technical connection data (including the IP address, browser and version used, configuration parameters, and installed plug-ins, date and time of access) are captured in server log files. This information is technically necessary in order to correctly deliver the content you request from websites; it is mandatory when using the internet.
According to our IT security concept, the log file data is stored for a period of two weeks in order to detect and analyze potential attacks on our website. The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
3. Processing of data when using the website – your inquiries
If you send us an inquiry by e-mail or via the contact form, we collect the data you provide for processing and answering your inquiry. This information is stored by us for verification purposes for a period of up to three years. The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
4. Subscription to job alerts
You can subscribe to our job alerts in order to be automatically informed by e-mail about upcoming job offers at HSE that may be of interest to you. To subscribe to our job alerts, we use the so-called double opt-in procedure, i.e., after entering your e-mail address we will send you a confirmation e-mail to the e-mail address you provided, in which we ask you to confirm your subscription to our job alerts. If you do not confirm the registration within 5 days of sending the confirmation e-mail, your subscription will be automatically deleted. If you confirm your subscription to the job alerts, we will store your e-mail address until you unsubscribe from the job alerts. Storing your e-mail address serves the purpose of sending you job alerts. The data from the registration process is stored in order for us to be able to prove that you gave your consent. In addition, we save your IP address and the time of your subscription when you register and confirm in order to prevent misuse of your personal data and to be able to provide proof of correct delivery. The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is Article 6 (1) sentence 1 (a) GDPR.
You have the right to withdraw your consent to receiving job alerts at any time. Your revocation does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data up until the time of revocation. You can declare your revocation by clicking on the link provided in each job alert e-mail or by e-mailing to service@hse.de, or by sending a message to the contact details provided in the imprint.
5. Notes on ensuring data security
We take technical and operational security precautions on our web pages to protect the personal data stored with us from access by third parties, loss or misuse, and to enable secure data transfer.
We must point out that due to the structure of the internet, inadvertent data access by third parties may occur. It is therefore also your responsibility to protect your data against misuse by using encryption or other means of protection. Without appropriate protective measures, in particular data transmitted without encryption, even if sent by e-mail, can be read by third parties.
IV. Integration of external service offers
1. Google Maps
Our website uses the “Google Maps” service from Google, for example, to enable you to plan your route and to show you our location.
When Google Maps is called up on this website, data will be sent to Google, such as your current location (if enabled) and technical connection data (including the IP address, browser and version used, configuration parameters, and installed plug-ins, date and time of access). The data protection provisions of Google (https://www.google.com/intl/de_de/policies/privacy/), apply to this service, supplemented by the separate data protection provisions for Google Maps (https://www.google.com/intl/de_de/help/terms_maps.html).
You can prevent the execution of Google Maps by selectively preventing the execution of the Java Script code by using a Java Script blocker; alternatively, you can also completely deactivate the execution of Java Script in your browser settings
The processing is based on our overriding legitimate interest in optimizing our offer in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
